Alexandre Dias da Cunha is an international consultant, professor, and non-executive director with over 25 years of experience advising multigenerational family businesses across Europe and the Middle East.
His work focuses on preparing and implementing succession processes, as well as designing family and shareholder governance models that ensure the continuity and long-term sustainability of family enterprises.
Alexandre is a Senior Advisor and Associate Partner at Cambridge Advisors to Family Enterprise, one of the world’s most respected advisory firms specializing in family business.
At Nova SBE, he serves as a Visiting Professor, Coordinator of the Family Business Initiative, and Academic Director of the executive program "Managing the Family Business." He also contributes as a facilitator in leading international programs such as “Families in Business” at Harvard Business School and “Future Family Enterprise” at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Currently, Alexandre serves as a non-executive director at the Mozambique Zimbabwe Pipeline Company. Between 2019 and 2025, he was a member of the General and Supervisory Board of Banco Invest in Lisbon. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at the Pão de Açúcar Group and in his own family’s companies and began his professional journey as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.
Alexandre is co-author of the book “Como Liderar Empresas Familiares” (2017) and two award-winning case studies on business families. He is an active participant in international conferences, including the International Family Enterprise Research Association (IFERA), where he contributes to discussions on the role of family enterprises in addressing global challenges such as sustainability, social impact, and responsible investment.
